Tennis Channel opens Best of 5 voting

LOS ANGELES — Tennis Channel’s original series Best of 5 is asking for fans’ help to choose the top five male and female heartthrobs of professional tennis in Best of 5 Heartthrobs, which will premiere during the 2014 US Open. Based on viewer votes, the show will count down the five hottest ATP and WTA fan favorites in today’s game.
Best of 5 Heartthrobs’ voters will be able to choose between a list of the 20 most handsome men and 20 most beautiful ladies in the game. This initial list features the big tennis stars that viewers will expect, such as Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer, but it will also include up-and-coming tennis champs, such as Grigor Dmitrov and Eugenie Bouchard. Fans can add to the list of Tennis Channel’s heartthrobs by tweeting us @TennisChannel with #bestof5. If the network receives enough tweets for someone, it will add them to the Best of 5 Heartthrobs list for contention.
“It’s great to be able to engage socially with viewers through this Best of 5 Heartthrobs countdown,” said Laura Hockridge, vice president of original programming. “Tennis is such a personality-driven sport, so we wanted to give fans the opportunity to interact with us while at the same time voting for their favorite tennis champ. It’ll be exciting to see who is elected to the top-five list; it’s anyone’s game at this point.”
