Langer joins Tennis Channel

LOS ANGELES — Tennis Channel has appointed Jeremy Langer as vice president of programming, effective immediately. He is based in the network’s Los Angeles headquarters and, as head of programming, oversees all of Tennis Channel’s long-term programming strategy, promotions and program scheduling, telecast rights negotiation and traffic. Langer reports to Ken Solomon, Tennis Channel chairman and CEO, and Bill Simon, Tennis Channel COO and CFO.
Langer joins the network after most recently serving at FOX Sports Media Group, where he was vice president, collegiate sports and rights acquisitions.
“Jeremy’s comprehensive programming capabilities and extensive sports-media knowledge make him a natural fit to lead Tennis Channel’s next phase of programming expansion,” said Solomon. “He’ll work with our partners at the ATP, WTA, ITF, the four majors, other tournaments and tours to maximize our thousands of hours of tennis-coverage rights. As the network’s programming head, he’ll also continue our mission to bring fans more of the sport they love than has ever been on television, as the network grows its opportunities both on-air and digitally.”
Langer is responsible for Tennis Channel’s overall programming approach. In addition to his on-air focus, he will advise digital programming efforts for the network’s digital subscription service, Tennis Channel Plus.
At FOX, Langer was directly responsible for the creation and implementation of programming and strategy for more than 500 live events annually, across 30 cross-platform distribution networks. He negotiated deal terms for all college sports acquisitions and sublicensing agreements, which resulted in $6 billion in television rights agreements from 2011-2013. At the same time, he created new rights agreements for nearly 400 hours of premiere programming for the network. Langer has also held positions with FOX Sports regional networks in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Additionally, he was integral in the creation of the new Big East Conference, its basketball schedule and multimillion dollar television rights package.
Langer graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor’s in broadcasting, radio and television.
