This week’s top seeds are Russian Anna Chakvetadze, Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova and Wimbledon runner-up Marion Bartoli of France. Maria Sharapova beat Nadia Petrova in last year’s all-Russian finale here, but neither player made the trip this year.
There is certainly no shortage in quality in this year’s field and with such strength in depth, the 2007 champion could come from anywhere in the draw.
