Balle de Match to distribute Kaelin Apparel

CHICAGO — Balle de Match is pleased to announce it will add Kaelin apparel to its inventory as of July 1, 2008.

Previously distributed by Diadora, Kaelin was founded in 1982 by former Head Sportswear executives as a women’s fashion brand. The company became known for its fabrics and comfortable fit, and its warm-ups that are a favorite among the baby boomers who have been wearing the apparel since the beginning.

“This is a perfect match for us,” said Balle de Match founder and designer Chris Deverian. “The classic style is a nice addition to our youthful look and allows us to reach a broader range of players. We feel a collective effort between our trusted sales representatives and our professional staff will provide this respected brand the tools necessary to achieve the success it once had and deserves.”

“Kaelin was struggling with customer service and delivery, which is our forte,” said Balle de Match co-owner and partner John Embree. According to the 2007 TIA Dealer Survey, Balle de Match was #1 in Customer Service and #3 in Speed of Shipment. “But Kaelin is strong in sourcing and we believe we can tap into their sourcing expertise and leverage the combined volume of both brands in order to improve quality and costs. With our strength in the grassroots market, we are in a position to grow Kaelin distribution and capitalize on the synergy of the combined labels.”

Kaelin will continue to be lead by industry veteran Stu Keiller who has been the face of the brand. Keiller will keep his design team in New York City and work from his office in Baltimore.

“I am very confident of Stu’s leadership and his ability to take the brand back to its original status,” said Embree. “He is tremendously knowledgeable about sourcing and his expertise will be a great asset for us.”
