Peter Burwash International Presents Awards at Annual Meeting

Peter Burwash International(PBI) recently celebrated its company annual meeting at the beautiful and prestigious Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt in Tirol, Austria. Consistently rated one of the top tennis destinations in Europe, Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt sits at the base of the stunning Wilder-Kaiser mountain range and recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation.
PBI’s yearly meeting brings 90 PBI Professionals together from around the globe for craft sharing and continuing education. With 10+ hours of seminars and conferences daily, topics focus on both personal and professional development, ranging from coaching tour players and innovative teaching techniques to communication and program marketing.
Senior PBI professionals conducted “PBI University” seminars covering a variety of key areas, including: Putting your Tennis Program on the Map, Creating Repeat Business, Hosting Events with Pro Players, Improving Member/Guest Service, Technology and the Tennis Coach, Coaching Teams and Organizing a Tennis Carnival, among many others.
Several notable guest speakers from the tennis and hospitality industries this year spoke at the meeting. John Embree, President of Prince Americas, analyzed why Prince Sports is considered the world leader in racket innovation and technology. As the only American owned racket manufacturer, Prince is poised to lead the tennis industry with the release of its latest technology in 2009.
This particular meeting also had special meaning as 2008 represents the 30th-year of PBI and Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt being in business together. A celebration noting this anniversary took place during the meeting.
In addition to this week of intensive educational activities both on and off the tennis court, the following awards were presented during the banquet which concludes the meeting.
Professional of the Year: Eric Thorel – Tennis Director at Tokyo Lawn Tennis Club in Tokyo, Japan
Runner-Up: Kevin Connolly – Tennis Director at Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage, California
Most Improved Professional: Adri Atkinson – Tennis Director at Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt in Tirol, Austria.
Runner-Up: Hayley Bakker – Tennis Director at Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Rookie of the Year: Todd Kramer – Head Professional at Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage, California
Runner-Up: Felipe Jimenez – Tennis Director at One&Only Reehti Rah in the Republic of Maldives in the Indian Ocean
Site of the Year: Kapalua at Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii
