Tribute scheduled for Kramer

There will be a memorial service for International Tennis Hall of Famer Jack Kramer, Saturday September 26, from 11 AM – 1 PM, at Straus Stadium in Los Angeles. Kramer passed away September 12 at age 88.

Kramer led the US Davis Cup team to two titles, won the Wimbledon men’s singles title in 1947 and the United States Championships in 1946 and 1947. He was the No. 1 player in the world until 1954; served as a tireless promoter of tennis for more than 60 years, father of “Open Tennis;” founder of the ATP; television commentator; fundraiser; innovator; Tournament Director of the LA Tennis Open; and President of the Southern California Tennis Association.

Co-hosts of the event will be Bill Dwyre of the Los Angeles Times and International Tennis Hall of Famer Pam Shriver.
