Wilson Believes in Melanie Oudin

September 15, 2009

[CHICAGO] – Melanie Oudin became the silent force of the tournament by defeating three seeds on her way to the quarterfinals: #4 seed Dementieva , #29 seed Sharapova and #13 seed Petrova. But it was how she won those matches that captivated fans. The spirited 17 year-old from Georgia showed phenomenal composure and gritty determination on the world’s biggest stage.

She captured the hearts of tennis fans everywhere as she used her Wilson [K]Blade Tour racket to make her Cinderella run at this year’s US Open and reach her first career major quarterfinal.

“Melanie started the year as one of our On the Rise prospects and she quickly established herself as a bona fide WTA Tour star,” says Wilson Tour Manager for the Americas Adam Schaechterle. “We have enjoyed supporting Melanie as she continues to prove doubters wrong with her unshakable courage on the court.”

This year, Melanie has already won two challengers tournaments, reached her 1st Wimbledon Round of 16 as a qualifier and now is at a career high #44 in the world after her impressive showing at the US Open.

Oudin has been part of the Wilson team since she was 12 yrs old. We looks forward to supporting her as we believe she will continue what promises to be a very successful career.
