Bordentown, NJ — When the new ATP tour rankings were released Monday, the Bryan Brothers were again listed as the No. 1 doubles team in the world — a position at which they will end the year.

The 31 year-old American twins, Bob and Mike, were crowned ATP World Tour Doubles Champions for the fifth time in seven years Sunday at London’s O2 Arena, defeating Max Mirnyi and Andy Ram to win the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.

The Bryans came into the ATP World Tour Finals with only a slim chance of finishing No. 1 needing to win the event in London in order to achieve the goal. But the duo had been playing some of their best tennis since making a late- season racquet switch to the Prince EXO3 Ignite Team 95. After only practicing with the new racquets for one week in the past month, the pair has already gone on to already win two titles with them, Beijing and now London, while reaching the finals of Basel.

“To come full circle, do it in the last tournament, last match with so much riding on this one, is huge,” said Mike Bryan. “We are feeling really great at the moment and attribute a big part of our most recent success, and achieving this goal, to our switch to the “Ignite”. We loved our previous sticks, but these are hands down the best racquets we have played with to date — allowing us to retain our power on serves and ground strokes, but carve out mid-court angles and shots at net. It is a more “all-court” frame — something that suits our game and was exactly what we were looking for.”

With the win, the Bryans clinched their 56th tour-level title together, and are now just one trophy behind the teams of Peter Fleming-John McEnroe and Bob Hewitt-Frew McMillan, who both won 57 titles and 5 titles from tying Australians Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde who are the current all-time leaders with 61 titles.

“It’s in our sights now to catch them,” said Bob Bryan. “To be even considered in the same sentence with the Woodies makes us proud. Those guys are our idols. But by staying healthy, training hard, and surrounding ourselves with a great team and equipment partners like Prince, I am confident we can get there one day. We are up to the challenge.”

The boys’ father, and world renown tennis coach Wayne Bryan echoes his sons’ feelings regarding their new racquets: “The guys are just crazy about their new Prince frames.
