Viewers Select the Year’s Best Grand Slam Final
December 17, 2009
LOS ANGELES — Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and tennis lifestyle, once again let visitors to its website (www.tennischannel.com) schedule the network’s prime-time lineup during the holiday season. This year’s You Make The Call fan poll asked fans to rank the eight men’s and women’s Grand Slam singles finals of 2009. The network will air one of these matches per night over eight nights from Dec. 21-28 @ 7 pm ET. The schedule was arranged according to its online poll results with the most popular match being show on the final day of the series.
To nobody’s surprise, the classic Wimbledon marathon between Roger Federer and Andy Roddick was chosen as the top match of the year. The rest of the voting proved that no matter the venue, no matter the result and no matter the opponent, Federer is the fan’s favorite. His four Grand Slam singles final matches were selected as the top four matches of the year.
Here’s a look at the poll results and corresponding schedule:
Tennis Channel’s You Make The Call fan poll pays tribute to the network’s milestone year in 2009, in which the network covered the US Open for the first time and as such all four of tennis four Grand Slam events.
