ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of materials for tennis courts, running tracks, synthetic turf fields and indoor and outdoor synthetic sports surfaces, has announced the names of individuals who have achieved the designations of Certified Tennis Court Builder (CTCB), Certified Track Builder (CTB) and Certified Field Builder (CFB).

The certification program, which was developed by the ASBA in order to help raise professional standards and improve the practice of athletic facility construction, shows that an individual has demonstrated or exceeded a specific level of professional experience. To achieve Certified Builder status, an individual is required to show documented evidence of professional experience, and is required to pass a comprehensive examination on construction and maintenance of the specific type of facility in which he or she is seeking certification.

By successfully completing the requirements of the Certified Builder program, an individual demonstrates a high level of knowledge in the field of sports facility-specific construction. Certification, which must be renewed every three years, is a recognized designation within the sports facility construction industry, and the requirement for Certification Builder status has been used in bidding documents for construction and rehabilitation projects.

(Note: The Certified Field Builder (CFB) designation is the Association’s newest certification program. The CFB designation demonstrates a core knowledge of field construction as well as expertise in both natural turf and synthetic turf. Alternatively, builders who wish to pursue certification in only one type of turf may choose to take the exam to become a Certified Field Builder-Natural (CFB-N) or Certified Field Builder-Synthetic (CFB-S).
