Drysdale Tennis School Receives High Honors
May 11, 2010
STRATTON MOUNTAIN, VT – The Cliff Drysdale Tennis School at Stratton Mountain Resort recently picked up world class honors in Tennis Resorts Online’s annual listing of the top tennis camps and resorts of 2010.
The Drysdale Tennis School was named the fourth best Tennis Camp in the world and second in the country among existing camps. Stratton also placed in the Top 5 for Best Resort Tennis and Instruction Program, Best Resort Junior Tennis Program and overall New England Tennis Resorts.
“When the opportunity to base The Drysdale Tennis School at Stratton Mountain Resort arose we were very excited” said Cliff Drysdale, the one-time U.S. Open champion and the voice of tennis on ESPN. “I have a lot of history here from commentating and playing in the 80’s and to now return to teach and vacation in the summer is fabulous!”
“I love being able to walk to the courts from my condo, the proximity of world class golf, and being able to relax and dine in the village at the end of the day”
Director of Tennis Scott Colebourne was also recently named the Professional Tennis Registry’s Member of the Year for the State of Vermont. In addition to running Stratton’s Drysdale Tennis School, the New Zealand native assists with certification workshops in Vermont and New Hampshire and volunteers through the Northshire Community Tennis Association.
“These accolades reflect the strength of the staff and our programs,” said Colebourne. “We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without the support of the staff, the resort and all of the people who have contributed to the program.”
Many of the sparking reviews on the Tennis Resorts Online page for the Drysdale Tennis School focus on the knowledge and instruction of Colebourne and his staff, who emphasize the fun of the sport within a positive learning environment. From themed mixers, to cardio tennis clinics, Legends Weekends and Junior Programs, the Drysdale Tennis School at Stratton Mountain Resort, caters to players of all ages and abilities.
“We have a tremendous facility here and having the resort’s abundance of off-court activities make Stratton a complete vacation destination” Colebourne said. “We work really hard to maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio and have fast paced clinics that aren’t just affordable, but feature more court time, we truly believe this is the ideal formula for all players, from beginner to advanced, to succeed.”
The school, a year round cornerstone of the Southern Vermont tennis community, offers an extensive range of programs, amenities and lodging that only a world class resort can offer. The facility itself has seven hard courts, eight har-tru courts, two indoor courts and is complemented by the Stratton Sports Center, which includes a 15,000 sq ft recreation space, weights, stretching room, cardio machines, hot tub, swimming pool, steam room and locker rooms.
