‘Jigsaw Puzzle Theory’ premieres on Tennis Channel
June 16, 2010
“On Court with USPTA” is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. In this episode USPTA Professional 1 Mark Bey shows you his Jigsaw Puzzle Theory. This theory is a developmental system that divides the game into 10 key pieces and is a blueprint for long-term growth. The show is loaded with information to help viewers become more well-rounded players. With practice, viewers will master the puzzle and go on to win more matches.
See what the pieces are and how they fit into four games that Bey uses with his players on a regular basis: Tug of War, Nine Lives, Doubles Countdown and You’ve Got No Guts. By utilizing the games demonstrated, your practice session will feel like match time and you’ll have a lot of fun. Even more, you’ll have a better understanding of what makes up a complete player.
Bey, who is the founder and director of Care Academy in Chicago, specializes in junior development. His accomplishments include serving as head coach at Libertyville Competition Training Center and as assistant coach to the Bryan brothers. He also has trained a half dozen students who have achieved WTA or ATP rankings.
“On Court” is a half-hour instructional show featuring USPTA-certified professionals as guest instructors. The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, more than 61 shows have been produced that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game, such as fun and fitness. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting to shooting and editing to graphics and DVD duplication. All episodes of “On Court” are now in high-definition.
