The 3rd Annual Cancer Charity Tournament

The 3rd Annual Hillsborough County Tennis Association / Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure / Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (Force) Doubles Ladies Tennis Tournament is set for Saturday through Sunday, Oct. 16-17 with a Tournament Party event at each site. Tournament matches will start Saturday morning continuing on Sunday. Proceeds from the women’s multi-level doubles tennis tournament will go to Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE), supporting breast and ovarian cancer research and treatment. A portion of the proceeds will go to HCTA Scholarship and their Inner City Community Base Tennis Programs.
“Last year, with help from area clubs over 150 wonderful women tennis players, and our many sponsors, raised more than $20,000 to fight breast cancer,” says tournament director Marisol Casablanca. “This year we aim to do even better.”
At 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, clay court tennis matches are slated to start at the two host clubs: Emerald Greens (West Hillsborough) and Hunter’s Green (North Tampa) Golf & Country Club. Play will be in 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 levels.
Each tournament site will host a Tournament Event Party and a Saturday luncheon. On Sunday afternoon the championship rounds will be held at Hunter’s Green. Winners from each site at each level will play championship matches starting at 4:00 PM.

The Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure began in 1999 in Pinellas County and has expanded to a six-county area. The Florida Suncoast Affiliate’s service area is: Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties. Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE) is a national nonprofit organization devoted to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Based in Tampa, FORCE was founded to assure that no one would ever have to face hereditary breast or ovarian cancer alone. Through our programs, events, and website (facingourrisk.org), FORCE promotes research on hereditary cancer and educates people about cancer risk, prevention, detection and treatment. FORCE’s Tampa Bay Outreach Group serves the needs of people facing hereditary cancer in the Tampa Bay area.
