Wilson Platform Ball Leads the Industry
October 14, 2010
[CHICAGO] — Wilson Racquet Sports continues its commitment to platform tennis with long term investments in technology as well as industry partnerships throughout the country.
As part of their long term dedication to build and develop the sport, Wilson has spent hundreds of hours scientifically developing a state-of-the-art platform ball featuring a new long lasting flocking technology, which resulted in a significant improvement in cover durability. This system has exceeded the expectations of the platform player, providing longer play and more consistency game after game. The ball is appropriate for all levels of play.
Wilson continues to support official platform tournaments around the country. As the Official Ball of 14 APTA clinics taking place at key paddle cities, Wilson is helping more athletes experience the sport. “These clinics are events to introduce and promote platform tennis,” stated Tim McAvoy, President of the APTA. “I am pleased that Wilson and the APTA have partnered to create such a great atmosphere to grow the game of platform tennis.”
In addition to clinics, Wilson will be the Official Ball to the Charities Championships that will take place in Chicago on November 5th. This is the kick off tournament to the paddle season and will draw 250 players from around the US. Wilson is the Official Ball of another Chicago tournament, the Super Series Tournament that takes place in January 2011. It is the largest regional tournament in the country and will have over 300 players competing in this annual event.
Wilson was named the Official Ball of the Court the Cure event in Chicago on October 7th. All participants received a coupon for 15% off Hope merchandise at a local retailer. Wilson supports the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with every product sold and being involved with this great event is another way to support the cause!
Lastly, Wilson was the Official Ball of the Premier Cup platform event in Richmond, VA on October 15th. This was a unique invitational event where the top 8 teams in the country were invited to compete against each other for cash prizes. The top teams were watched by hundreds of local paddle enthusiasts.
Wilson’s commitment will continue in years to come as platform tennis continues to grow at a national level.
