USPTA Conference Scheduled

The United States Professional Tennis Association Competitive Player Development Conference will take place in Naples, Fla., from Dec. 11-13. For the third year, the conference will be held at the Academia Sanchez-Casal, where attendees will learn about some of the progressive coaching systems, including the “Spanish Way to Develop Players.” Attendees will gain insight about the Sanchez-Casal coaching philosophy, foundation and competition stages, and many drills and exercises that develop players.

Emilio Sanchez Vicario, founder of the Sanchez-Casal Academy, and Luis Mediero, USPTA Master Professional and founder of Registro Profesional de Tenis (RPT) in Madrid, Spain, will be featured speakers. Sanchez Vicario is the former captain of the 2008 championship Davis Cup team for Spain and a former tour player ranked No. 7 in singles and No. 1 in doubles. He was also captain of Spain’s Olympic gold medal team in 2008. Mediero, who is also the president of the International Coaches Institute (ISI), has a lifetime of coaching experience that he has shared through courses, clinics and conferences in 80 countries.
