WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The USTA announced today that effective January 1, 2011, its 15 member Board of Directors officially began its two-year term that will run through December 31, 2012. The board will be led by Jon Vegosen, of Chicago, the USTA Chairman of the Board and President and includes seven first-time Board members. Lucy S. Garvin will remain on the USTA Board in her role as Immediate Past President.

Here’s a look at the elected Officers and Directors of the USTA Board for 2011-12:

Jon Vegosen, of Chicago, and the USTA Midwest Section, who previously served as First Vice President and Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors will serve as Chairman of the Board and President of the USTA. Vegosen is the Chairman of the US Open and represents the USTA on the Grand Slam Committee. He is also Chairman of the Compensation Committee. Vegosen serves on the Major Construction Oversight Committee and will continue to serve as a member of the International Committee and the International Tennis Federation’s Constitutional Committee. He is a Board Liaison to the ATP World Tour, the WTA, the ITF and the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

In addition to his current duties on the USTA Board of Directors, Vegosen serves as a member of the board of directors of USTA Serves, the national charitable arm of the USTA, and the International Tennis Hall of Fame, as well as Director for Life of JCYS, a not-for-profit social service agency based in Chicago. Vegosen is a founder of the Chicago-based corporate and litigation law firm now known as Funkhouser Vegosen Liebman and Dunn Ltd.

David A. Haggerty, of Pennington, NJ, and the USTA Middle States Section, who previously served as the Vice President on the USTA Board of Directors will serve as First Vice President. Haggerty is a member of the Budget, International and Compensation committees, and represents the USTA on the Brand Slam Committee and the ITF Women’s Circuit Committee. He is also a member of the board of directors of USTA Serves, the national charitable foundation of the USTA. Prior to his appointment as First Vice President, he served as the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and as the Board Liaison to the Community Tennis Council-Green Group.

Katrina M. Adams, of White Plains, NY, and the USTA Eastern Section, who previously served as an Elite Athlete and a Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors will serve as Vice President. In the current term, Adams is serving on the Compensation Committee and as a Board Liaison to the sections, the USPTA and USTA Serves. She also serves on the board of directors of USTA Serves. A television analyst for Tennis Channel and Executive Director of the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program in New York, Adams played for 12 years on the WTA Tour.

Carol J. Welder, of Austin, TX, and the USTA Texas Section, who previously served as a Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors will serve as Vice President. In the current term, Welder is the Chair of the Audit Committee and is serving a second term as a member of the Budget Committee, as well as serving as a Board Liaison to the sections. She previously served as Chair of the USTA Membership Services Committee.

Donald L. Tisdel, of Lake Oswego, OR, and the USTA Pacific Northwest Section, will serve his third consecutive term as Secretary-Treasurer on the USTA Board of Directors. Tisdel is also serving a third term as the Chair of the Budget Committee and as a member of the Audit and Investment committees. He is also a member of the Major Construction Oversight Committee and is on the board of directors for USTA Serves. Prior to assuming the position of Secretary-Treasurer, Tisdel served a two-year term as a Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors.

Seth G. Abraham, of New York, NY, and the USTA Eastern Section, will serve his first term as Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. He serves as the Board Liaison to the Youth Growth Council and is a member of the Strategic and Creative Planning Committee. The former president of HBO Sports and president of Madison Square Garden, he now heads sports marketing firm Starship SA LLC.

Dale G. Caldwell, of New Brunswick, NJ, and the Eastern Section, will serve his first term as Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. He is the Chair of the Strategic and Creative Planning Committee and serves as the Board Liaison to the Opportunity and Education Council. Previously, Caldwell served and the Eastern Section’s President (2006-08) and Delegate (2009-10).

William J. Kellogg, of La Jolla, CA, and the USTA Southern California Section, will serve his first term as Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. He is the Board Liaison for the Information Council and is a member of the Audit Committee. Previously, Kellogg served as the Southern California Section’s President (2009-2010).

John N. Korff, of Key Biscayne, FL, and the USTA Florida Section, will serve for the third time as Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. Korff previously served two terms on the board from 2005 to 2008. In the current term, he is the Board Liaison to the Adult Tennis Council and a member of the Strategic and Creative Planning Committee.

Delaine B. Mast, of Lancaster, PA, and the USTA Middle States Section, will serve her first term as Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. She is the Vice Chair of the Strategic and Creative Planning Committee and serves as the Board Liaison to the Service Council. Mast has a long history of volunteerism within the USTA, having served on nine national committees or task forces since 1987.

Andrew A. Valdez, of Salt Lake City, UT, and the USTA Intermountain Section, will serve his first term as Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. He is a member of the Budget Committee and serves as the Board Liaison to the Delivery System Council. The Honorable Valdez currently presides over the Utah State Juvenile Court, where he has been a juvenile court judge for 16 years.

Patrick J. Galbraith, of Bainbridge Island, WA, and the USTA Pacific Northwest, will serve his third term as a Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. He will serve as the Vice Chair of the Budget Committee and will continue to serve as the Vice Chair of the Investment Committee. Galbraith is one of three elite athletes on the USTA Board of Directors, and played professionally from 1989-2000.

Chanda Rubin, of Lafayette, LA, and the USTA Southern Section, will serve her first term as a Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. Rubin is one of three elite athletes on the USTA Board of Directors, and is a member of the Budget Committee and serves as Board Liaison to the Player Development Council. She played professionally for 16 years.

Jeffrey G. Tarango, of Manhattan Beach, CA, and the USTA Southern California Section, will serve his first term as a Director at Large on the USTA Board of Directors. He is one of three elite athletes on the USTA Board of Directors and is the Board Liaison to the Pro Tennis Council and a member of the Strategic and Creative Planning Committee and the Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Olympic and Paralympic Team Events Committee. He played professionally for 15 years.
