Careers In Tennis Grows
February 20, 2011
Careers In Tennis, which connects those with a passion for tennis to career opportunities across all sectors of the industry, is experiencing expansive growth in its central portal, CareersInTennis.com.
The website, which is a free service to both job seekers and employers, was launched in late 2009 by the Tennis Industry Association and is now one of the largest “clearinghouses” for connecting individuals to information and education on tennis industry careers, with more than 1,000 listings on its job board.
“Our goal is to create greater awareness for the tennis industry and assist with placement of quality talent in positions to provide the future workfoce and leaders of our sport,” says TIA Executive Director, Jolyn de Boer. “There are a multitude of opportunities available in tennis, whether at a tennis facility or retail store, as a teaching pro, working for an organization such as the USTA, as an employee of one of the manufacturing companies, or for any other tennis business.”
As the job market in the U.S. appears to be turning upward, the growth for CareersInTennis.com has been very positive. “Through the first two months of 2011 we’ve seen the number of jobs being pulled to the job board jump from around 700 to more than 1,000 active listings,” says Ryan Melton, the TIA’s Careers In Tennis manager. Currently, the site has more than 500 registered job seekers, 1,000+ tennis industry jobs, and over 7,000 job views.
“We want to make everyone out there who has a passion for the sport aware that you can turn your love of tennis into a career,” says Melton. With the Careers In Tennis initiative, the TIA continues to work closely with the USTA Tennis On Campus program, the Professional Tennis Management colleges and universities, and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association to increase awareness of the opportunities that exist within tennis.
“With CareersInTennis.com, young leaders in the Tennis on Campus program have a great resource to find internships and jobs in the tennis industry, in meaningful positions that can help this sport grow,” says Glenn Arrington, the USTA’s national manager for Tennis on Campus.
In addition to creating awareness among job seekers, the TIA strives to better connect employers to these candidates by offering them unlimited FREE job postings to the Careers In Tennis job board.
In addition to posting jobs for free, tennis companies can actively search candidates who are registered on CareersInTennis.com and even take applications directly through the site, saving companies’ hiring departments time and effort in the recruiting process. One of the goals in addition to education is to provide as many jobs and internships as possible via the Careers In Tennis website and job board and encourage companies in all sectors of the industry to use the site as a recruiting resource.
