Djokovic and Nishikori Team-up

March 20, 2011

MIAMI — Responding to the tragic events unfolding in Japan, ATP World Tour #2 Singles Player Novak Djokovic, Japan’s Kei Nishikori and other top ATP players are joining with GR8 Miami to hold a fundraising event on Wednesday, March 23rd, during the first week of the Sony Ericsson Open.

Prior to the party, Djokovic will lead a team of ATP stars in an exhibition soccer match against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers professional soccer team. The match starts at 7:00 pm on Wednesday at Ransom Everglades School, 3575 Main Highway, Miami, FL 33133.

Later that evening, starting at 8:00 p.m., some of the tennis and soccer players will attend a fundraiser dinner and after-party at an up-scale downtown Miami venue to be announced Monday. The exclusive after-party will feature additional fundraising opportunities including a silent auction and donations to the American Red Cross Japan disaster relief efforts. The event is hosted by GR8 Miami, a new luxury concierge, entertainment and event planning company (GR8Miami.com).

“Since we heard about the earthquake in Japan and all it’s consequences I wanted to do something to support the victims in Japan,” said Novak Djokovic. “I have played last week with messages posted on my knee tape supporting Japan, but this is something different since we want to raise money for the Red Cross to help people.”

“We at GR8 Miami, like others around the world, are deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis facing the people of Japan, and we are grateful for the opportunity to join Novak, Kei and his fellow players in this charitable event. We invite tennis fans from Miami as well as visitors in town for the Sony Ericsson Open to help us show support by coming to our event,” said Barnabas Carrega, GR8 Miami co-founder.

Tickets for the event can be purchased by visiting GR8Miami.com, emailing [email protected], or calling 415-225-5764 or 561-706-4276.
