Davydenko drives off with his 21st title

For the first time since Doha in 2010, Nikolay Davydenko entered the ATP World Tour winner’s circle this past weekend by capturing the title at the BMW Open. He did so after battling through five tight matches, culminating with his 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 defeat of German No. 1 Florian Mayer in the final.
Davydenko, known for his consistent ground strokes, has now won at least one ATP World Tour title for nine years running. This time his win came while clutching a Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Plus racket. “In finals I just feel stronger, more relaxed, my confidence is very high and I just go out there fighting,” said Davydenko. “It was a very important result here and I’m just so happy.” Davydenko moves up to 28th, from 40th, in the ATP World Tour rankings.
Meanwhile, Fernando Verdasco, who plays the Dunlop Biomimetic 300, reached another final on Sunday, this time in Estoril, Portugal, before succumbing to Juan Martin Del Potro.
