Personnel changes at Midtown Tennis
August 15, 2011
CHICAGO — Michael Mahoney, General Manager of Midtown Tennis Club, announced today that heralded Head Tennis Professional Butch Staples will be leaving the club to build a new tennis facility in Bluffton, South Carolina. Staples will, however, continue his relationship with Midtown and its parent company, Chicago-based Tennis Corporation of America, acting in a special advisory position.
In his new role, Staples will work with all Midtown Athletic Clubs nationwide focusing on personnel recruitment, training, new business development, and execution of lesson and program plans with a special emphasis on TCA’s Junior Development, Cardio Tennis, and Tennis In No Time programs. Mr. Staples is one of only a handful of Master Teaching Professionals in the U.S. and earlier this year was named Racquet Sports Industry’s “Junior Tennis Champion of the Year” along with a fellow Midtown instructor.
“We are delighted to have Butch remain with Midtown as a special advisor,” said Mahoney. “He has been a significant contributor in the development of our tennis programs starting with TCA in 2003. He promotes our tennis programs tirelessly and sets records with the coaches he manages each year. He is academic and introspective in the ways he sets out to improve teaching and coaching tennis, and is an industry leader in managing the largest group of coaches in our company.”
Insko Named Head Professional
Mahoney also announced the promotion of Mike Insko to the position of Head Professional. Insko re-joined the professional staff at Midtown Tennis Club in September, 2009, after working with the company earlier in his career. In November, 2010, Insko was named Assistant Head Professional at Midtown Tennis Club, overseeing the club’s private instruction, Platform Tennis, travel teams and leagues, Tennis in No Time, TenniSchools, and tournaments.
Insko is a past USPTA Indiana Professional of the Year and has served as a USTA junior area training coach. He is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry, United States Professional Tennis Association, and Professional Platform Tennis Association.
