Red clay a success at St. Andrews CC
September 29, 2011
BOCA RATON, Fla. — St. Andrews Country Club recently imported European red clay directly from Italy to provide their members with an unforgettable tennis experience on the areas only court with this signature playing surface.
Aaron Krickstein, Director of Tennis at St. Andrews Country Club said, “We are very pleased that our own red clay court, similar to those seen at the French Open and Monte Carlo, is the first one installed at a club in our area. This unique court provides a somewhat different type of tennis experience, marked by a high, true bounce, slower overall play compared to a standard green Har-Tru court, increased importance and use of the drop shot, and tennis socks that get a little red. We have received very positive feedback and good reviews from our members and their guests who have taken advantage of the availability of this court.”
“The addition of a red clay court as a follow up to our annual professional tennis exhibition reinforces our commitment to tennis.” Craig D. Martin, St. Andrews Country Club Chief Operating Officer and General Manager added, “Offering our members a unique experience every day is part of our brand promise to grow the relevance and value of a membership at St. Andrews Country Club.”
On February 16, 2011, St. Andrews Country Club hosted a star-studded professional tennis exhibition featuring their own Director of Tennis, Aaron Krickstein, a nine-time ATP tour titlist, formerly ranked sixth in the world. Aaron was joined by fellow ATP superstars who have all been ranked in the World’s Top Ten. Participants included Mark Philippoussis, Jimmy Arias and Mikael Pernfors. The event was hosted by the famed and entertaining Brett Haber. Five days later Krickstein went on to defeat John McEnroe at the ATP Delray Beach Champions Tour Event where he was cheered on by a large contingent of St. Andrews Country Club members and their guests.
Michael Goldman, President, Board of Governors for St. Andrews Country Club stated, “The commitment of the Board of Governors, Craig and his professional staff, is to continually provide a one-of-a-kind experience at the Club. The result is a highly satisfied membership who receive the highest level of service excellence and amenities found anywhere in the country.”
