Eight straight for Illingworth
March 15, 2012
Julian Illingworth, the highest ranked American squash player ever, cemented his stature in the game by winning his eighth consecutive U.S. Men’s Championship on Sunday, extending a streak that began in 2005.
The Portland, Oregon native, who recently renewed his long term agreement with Dunlop, used his Biomimetic Pro GT-X 130 to come from a game down to beat Chris Gordon 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 in the final. The action took place in Harvard University’s Murr Center. See all the results here.
“Julian is not only an asset to the Dunlop Tour Team, but to all of squash in America,” said Kai Nitsche, VP of Racket Sports for Dunlop. “Julian’s steady climb up the PSA rankings since graduating from Yale is a testament to his hard work and commitment to squash. He has undoubtedly helped increase exposure for the sport in the United States.”
