Wilson Tour Players in High Gear

March 16, 2012

CHICAGO — Wilson (wilson.com) tour players, fresh from strong victories during this year’s Grand Slam season, are in high gear heading into next week’s Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida. Defending champion and world no. 1 Vika Azarenka, world no. 3 Petra Kvitova, 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, and five-time Sony Ericsson Open winner Serena Williams will be front and center as play begins next Monday.

“Since the debut of the redesigned ProStaff® racket series and the new Juice™ and Steam™ rackets, Wilson’s players have taken top honors in the sport’s most prestigious tournaments,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director of Wilson Racquet Sports. Since making the switch to the Juice 100, Azarenka won her first Grand Slam title, this year’s Australian Open, and is now 21-0. She continues her winning form at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, where she will play in the semifinals today. Federer claimed his 72nd career title at the Dubai Tennis Championships with his ProStaff Six.One 90 racket. Kei Nishikori made history with the Steam racket, by becoming the first Japanese player in more than 80 years to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. Petra Kvitova is at no. 3 on the WTA with the Steam 100.

“We’ve seen a very high caliber of tennis this season from our players,” said Vallon. “This momentum will continue to fuel their passion to win as they head to Miami. We look forward to the best that tennis has to offer at one of the largest and most respected tennis tournaments in the world.”

Serena Williams, one of the most prolific winners of the Sony Ericsson tournament, having won it five times previously, is the no. 11 seed, looking for her next win.

Milos Raonic, fresh from a solid match against Federer at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, is excelling his level of play with each tournament with the Wilson Blade 98 BLX.

Other tour players from the Wilson camp include Alexandr Dolgopolov, Mardy Fish, Feliciano Lopez, and Juan Martin Del Potro. For players updates and news visit wilson.com
