Longoria Finishes a Perfect Season

Fullerton, Calif. — HEAD Penn’s Paola Longoria, the world’s Number 1 ranked female racquetball player, completed the “Perfect Season” by winning the Women’s Professional Racquetball Organization’s (WPRO) final event of the season this past weekend in Southern California.
With her win in the final event of the WPRO season, Longoria captured her third career Season End Title as a professional. She finished the 2011-2012 WPRO season with nine tournament victories and an overall match record of 36 wins and 0 losses.
The 22 year old from San Luis Potosí, Mexico signed a long term contract with HEAD Penn last month. She is the reigning International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) World Women’s Doubles Champion and the 2011 Pan American Games Women’s Singles Champion.
Longoria used HEAD’s new Black Widow 160 racquet to win her 2011-2012 season title. The Black Widow is part of HEAD’s new racquet line which includes the Scorpion 170 and Cobra 180 racquets.
Before joining the professional ranks, Paola dominated on the world stage as a junior. She won eight consecutive World Junior Girls’ Singles Championships from 2001 to 2008. Towards the end of her junior career Longoria started competing at the adult level, winning the Pan American Championships title in Women’s Singles in 2006, 2008, 2010 and again this year in April.
In 2010, Longoria received the 2010 National Sports Award from the Mexican President Felipe Calderon. Off the court, Paola is a student in Engineering in Administration and Systems at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon.
