Greenville, SC — After three hours of intense baseline action in yesterday’s stellar final, 20 year old Heather Watson found herself down triple match point at 4-5 in the third. But at that moment she steadied her nerves, summoned the strokes she’s worked on for countless hours, and fought off each match point with her new new Biomimetic M3.0 racquet.

Eventually she won the game, and after having to fend off one final match point in the tie-break, Watson won the Japan Open title, the first for a British woman since 1988, and Heather’s first on the WTA Tour. The final score was 7-5, 5-7, 7-6.

“Britain has been breaking quite a few records recently,” said Watson. “I’m happy I could break another one today. I’m proud to do this for my country.”
