Djokovic destroys tennis court during testing

November 21, 2012

Kennelbach, Austria — The world’s top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic will premiere his new HEAD Speed racquet at the Australian Open in January — but a teaser film launched by HEAD Tennis today on youtube.com/headtennis proves that he has already completed intense, secret testing with his sponsor to try out the new version of his racquet – with some really spectacular results.

The teaser film shows exclusive footage from a secret test session with Novak Djokovic on a tennis court guarded by security people and fully draped with black cloth. The Serb arrives at the court with a black suitcase, which is handcuffed to his wrist and labeled with a mysterious ‘G’ logo. The security guards open the case and hand Novak Djokovic a black prototype racquet. Unfortunately, the camera is not allowed onto the court, so tennis fans will have to wait until beginning of next year to find out what really happened. But one thing is certain: Novak’s new weapon seems to provide extraordinary ball speed, as at the end of the racquet test one of Djokovic’s serves destroys the fence of the tennis court.

So what is this mysterious ‘G’ giving Novak so much speed in his strokes? HEAD officially announced that Novak’s new Speed racquet will be revealed and launched on January 11th, 2013.

However, 50 tennis players worldwide have the chance to already test Novak’s secret weapon prior to the launch date. Via www.head.com/G and www.facebook.com/headtennis fans can sign up to receive and test one of 50 exclusive HEAD prototypes, and leave a review for a chance to win a special prize – Novak’s black suitcase featured in the new HEAD spot.

The teaser film and testing initiative is the kick-off to a multi-level, digital and retail communication campaign by HEAD Tennis supporting the introduction of the new 2013 racquet collection. The objective of the campaign will be to activate tennis players around the world to demo new HEAD racquets and experience the ‘G’, which will be revealed on January 11th, 2013.
