November 20, 2012
Sea Island, Georgia — Sea Island, a destination resort located on the coast of Georgia, announced today that celebrated squash player Nick Matthew has been named the resort’s touring professional and ambassador for its world-class squash offerings. Hailed as one of the world’s most successful squash players, Matthew will lend his expertise and provide instruction to squash enthusiasts during the inaugural Sea Island Fantasy Squash Camp, currently scheduled for March 28-31, 2013.
“We are honored and excited to welcome Nick Matthew, one of squash’s reining stars, to the Sea Island team,” said Steve Hall, Sea Island Squash Director. “Nick’s travels on the PSA World Squash Tour will help drive a new level of awareness and success to our squash program, further establishing Sea Island as a top destination for squash aficionados.” Sea Island continues to build its reputation as a world-class squash destination with the addition of Matthew, mere months after Hall was signed on as Squash Director.
Since turning pro in 1998, Nick Matthew has enjoyed a prolific career that has led him to become one of the most celebrated squash players of all-time. In addition to winning the World Championships in 2010 and 2011, Matthew has won three British Open titles equaling the most ever from an Englishman. In June 2010, he ascended to the number one ranking in the world and maintained this position through 2011. Matthew is presently the world’s number two player and he will strive for his third World Championship title in Qatar December 7-14, 2012.
“I look forward to representing Sea Island around the world as an ambassador to their state-of-the-art squash facilities,” said Matthew. “I’m excited to interact with Sea Island guests and fellow squash players during the Sea Island Fantasy Squash Camp next spring.”
