NEW YORK, NY — The 2013 National Family Tennis Championships has announced the four host tennis facilities and dates for its Super Regional Playoffs this summer include; The Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Missouri (July 26-28); The Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama (August 2-4); The Tennis Center at College Park in College Park, Maryland (August 2-4); and the El Dorado Park Tennis Center in Long Beach, California (August 2-4).

The top teams in each division of play at the four Super Regional Playoffs will then earn a complimentary trip to New York City for the right to play for a national title from August 22-26, 2013. Teams will receive travel, hotel accommodations as well as tickets to see the best in the game play at the USTA/Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

“We are excited to be a part of the National Family Tennis Championships, first by hosting a local tournament for the members of our community and then welcoming the top family teams from the region to our courts for the chance to qualify for the nationals,” said Scott Hanover, Director of Tennis at the Plaza Tennis Center. “As a public facility our members love family tournaments and we’re excited to add this one to our schedule.”

The Plaza Tennis Center is located on the historic Country Club Plaza in the heart of Kansas City. It offers 14 outdoor hard courts and is home to the Kansas City United Tennis Junior Academy and the UMKC Roos Tennis. The public facility is walking distance from more than a half-dozen hotels, more than 150 shops and dozens of fine restaurants in Kansas City’s premier retail, dining and entertainment destinations.

The Mobile Tennis Center is recognized as one of the world’s largest public tennis facilities. Located in beautiful Mobile, Alabama, the facility offers an astounding 60 laykold tennis courts. Originally built in 1958, the tennis center has grown to host many of the regions premier tennis events. Among the 28 tournaments on its 2013 calendar are the USTA Southern States Adult Sectionals for more than 2,000 players and the USTA Spring National 18’s Championships.

The Tennis Center at College Park is located just 11-miles from downtown Washington, DC and 40-minutes from Baltimore. The 30-court private facility offers indoor and outdoor courts including hard and red and green clay courts. The USTA’s first Regional Training Center also hosts some of tennis’ premier events including the USTA National Open, a US Open Sectional Qualifier, IFT pre-US Open junior event and the home court of the University of Maryland Lady Terrapins.

The El Dorado Park Tennis Center in Long Beach, CA. offers 15 hard courts in an idyllic setting. The public courts are part of the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine. Long Beach is one giant playground in the heart of Southern California. It is home to the world famous Long Beach Aquarium and within an hour of Hollywood, Disneyland, Santa Catalina Island and much more.

I have competed in numerous events, but this was undoubtedly the best tournament that I have had the good fortune to participate in and a weekend our family will remember forever.”
