‘Parents and Pros Special’ premieres this Saturday
May 30, 2013
“On Court with USPTA” is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. This special episode, “Parents and Pros Special,” is hosted by Patrick McEnroe and provides the perfect introduction and instructional resource for 10 and Under Tennis. It guides parents and teaching pros on how youth tennis equipment, courts and new teaching techniques are fast becoming the most powerful tools for getting more kids to play better tennis.
The episode provides a general overview of all the key components of 10 and Under Tennis. It showcases that tennis sized for kids is the best way to teach skills for the court and help them find a life-long love of the game. Viewers see coaches interacting on court with kids and kids getting better faster because they are actually getting more one-on-one attention than the old way of instructing. And the increase in youth tennis programs is proof that this new format works phenomenally well.
Viewers will get a chance to see first-hand how games specifically designed for kids help develop technique and athleticism. They will also get a chance to hear from those teaching and playing 10 and Under Tennis and the positive impact playing tennis has had on them. Kids talk about what they like about the program, coaches discuss how they teach it and how they feel it makes a difference, and parents explain their thoughts and feelings toward how they see the development as their child gets older.
The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, the USPTA has produced more than 85 shows that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting, to shooting and editing, to graphics and DVD duplication. All episodes of “On Court” are now in high definition.
