PTR Records 27 Years of Growth

August 23, 2013

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) announced today that it has achieved an unprecedented 27 consecutive years of membership growth in the USA. This milestone has been fueled by the organization’s greatly enhanced, world-class education and certification pathway.

“There is no doubt that PTR’s investment in vastly improving our education, especially in 10 & under tennis, has paid dividends,” said Dan Santorum, CEO of PTR. “It has also helped the sport grow as participation figures for 10 & under tennis leaped 13% this year. With 25% of PTR members now certified to teach 10 & under tennis, we believe PTR played a pivotal role in this growth. The key moving forward is to continue to enhance our education system with the 11 to 17 pathway and consider upgrading the requirements for certification.”

“To increase membership every year for more than a quarter century is a testament to our leadership, staff, and especially the thousands of loyal PTR members,” said Jorge Andrew, PTR Board President. “In addition to elevating the caliber of our educational offerings, I believe this growth is also because PTR is a unique organization that provides a global perspective, while maintaining a ‘family culture’ that is inclusive.”

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 14,600 members in 117 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
