September 5, 2013

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — Tennis players and those looking to get into the game who register on the all-new PlayTennis.com website—a central hub of tennis information connecting players to all things tennis—have an opportunity to win one of hundreds of monthly prizes, including tickets to the 2014 US Open, autographed tennis racquets and merchandise from the game’s biggest stars, and tennis equipment packages.

Prizes include merchandise signed by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova, John Isner, Ana Ivanovic, the Bryan Brothers and many other professional tennis players. In addition, those registering on PlayTennis.com can win equipment packages including performance tennis racquets, tennis shoes and apparel, gear bags, string, magazine subscriptions and more. PlayTennis.com is a collaborative effort from tennis industry companies and organizations to help bring attention to tennis and get more people involved with the sport.

“PlayTennis.com is a non-branded one-stop portal of tennis information,” says Jolyn de Boer, executive director of the Tennis Industry Association (TIA), which manages the free website. “On the site, consumers can find people to play with, find local programs and events in their area, connect with a tennis coach for lessons, search for places to play, find gear reviews and more.”

The consumer sign-up promotion and prize drawings, which starts now and runs to April 2014, is free to enter, no purchase is necessary. Players simply visit PlayTennis.com, complete the registration, and submit a short entry form.

Unified industry messaging and consumer activation kicked off on Sept. 5, as various tennis industry organizations, professional tennis players, and major tennis manufacturers promoted PlayTennis.com to consumers through social media and email campaigns. The estimated reach of the activation day was in excess of 75 million consumers.

“The PlayTennis.com site is a rallying point for tennis and the industry,” says TIA President Greg Mason, “and is completely free to both consumers and tennis industry providers to use. PlayTennis.com is a portal to connect people to tennis and keep them engaged with the sport.”

As a one-stop portal for all things tennis, PlayTennis.com is a unique, collaborative effort that has the support of industry manufacturers, retailers, facilities, the U.S. Tennis Association, teaching pro organizations, the pro tennis tours and many more companies and organizations. Directing consumers and fans to the site provides the opportunity for a single, unified message from all corners of the tennis industry: “Play tennis!”

Those in the industry who would like to help support the activation of PlayTennis.com can find a variety of free resources available for download at PlayTennis.com, including logos, banner ads, email template, social media messaging, and more.
