PTR celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

September 27, 2013

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month, which was enacted in 1988, and runs September 15 though October 15.

PTR has always been in the forefront of inclusion. In 1990, PTR created ACE (Advancing the Commitment to Education) program to provide affordable education and certification to people of color. In 2012, Jorge Andrew was elected President of PTR, the first Latin American to serve as president of a major tennis organization in the United States.

PTR is paying tribute to the culture that has enriched our society by offering 50% off any PTR workshop held in the USA to anyone of Hispanic descent who wants to expand or start their career teaching tennis.

“I strongly believe in the importance of education, as well as being properly credentialed,” said Andrew. “PTR is doing its part to increase the number of Hispanic tennis coaches in the United States.”

PTR International Director, Iñaki Balzola added, “This is a very important month for the Hispanic Community in the US, and PTR is proud to support our ever growing Hispanic membership. We are excited to be offering more workshops conducted in both English and Spanish.”

National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the contributions made to the United States by Hispanic and Latino Americans and celebrates the community’s heritage and culture. Hispanics have had a profound and positive influence on our country through their strong commitment to family, faith, hard work and service.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 14,600 members in 117 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
