Ritz-Carlton announces new program with PBI

November 1, 2013

Naples, Florida — The Ritz-Carlton, Naples and The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples are pleased to announce a new partnership with Peter Burwash International (PBI) to direct the tennis programs for both properties.

The iconic five-star, five-diamond, Ritz-Carlton Naples is located on 20 beachfront acres overlooking the serene waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The resort recently underwent an unprecedented refurbishment of all 450 guest rooms and dining outlets along with additional upgrades, marking an exciting new chapter in its 27-year history. The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples, located just down the road and accessible via complimentary hotel shuttle, is a Mediterranean-style hotel with 295 guest rooms and golf on the championship Tiburón golf course. Each resort offers four beautiful, sub-irrigated Har-Tru tennis courts, lighted for night play and a full-service pro shop.

“Peter Burwash International has, for many years, been synonymous with highly-polished, enthusiastic professionals and expert tennis management for luxury resorts,” said Edward V. Staros, Vice President and Managing Director for The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Naples and one of the original founders of the Ritz-Carlton brand. “We are always looking for new ways to elevate the overall guest experience and we know PBI can do that for our tennis operation. We are delighted to offer their award-winning service.”

“The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Naples are renowned for their impeccable service and quality,” said Peter Burwash, PBI’s founder and President. “We are honored to be entrusted to manage their tennis operation and our professionals will be lucky to work with and learn from Edward Staros, a true hotelier and legend in the resort industry. We look forward to an upcoming season full of new programs and activities for players of all ages and abilities.”

In conjunction with the agreement, PBI also announced the appointment of Roger Browne as its Director of Tennis to oversee both programs. Browne, who grew up in Florida, was most recently the tennis director at the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. A player for Pepperdine University and on the satellite circuit in the 80’s, Roger later directed tennis programs for numerous other clubs and resorts in Florida. “Roger’s extensive tennis director experience and familiarity with the tennis scene in Florida makes him an ideal choice to open this important new affiliation for PBI in Naples,” said Burwash.
