Longoria and Carson finish the season on top

For the third consecutive season, HEAD Penn’s Paola Longoria finished the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) with an unblemished record. In the season ending Pro Nationals event in Virginia, Longoria defeated fellow HEAD Penn teammate Maria Jose Vargas in the finals. As Paola wrapped up the season in the top spot yet again, Maria finished the year with a career best ranking of No. 3 among the best players in the world.
Longoria has not lost a match or tournament on the LPRT since May 2011. The Mexican native’s consecutive match winning streak will be put on the line next season at 137. Longoria’s tournament winning streak now sits at 34 and she now holds 50 career tournament titles on the LPRT.
On the men’s side of racquetball, HEAD Penn’s Rocky Carson made the finals of the Tournament of Champions event to wrap up the season on the International Racquetball Tour. His finish in Oregon secured a year end ranking as the No. 2 player in the world. For a brief period earlier in the 2013-14 season, Carson grabbed the top spot in the rankings. Next up for Carson is the International Racquetball Federation’s World Championships to be held in Canada in June. Rocky is the defending Gold Medalist in the Men’s Singles Division at the World Championships, which are contested every two years. Carson holds three Men’s Singles Gold Medals overall, plus a Team Gold Medal in 2012. The Californian also earned a pair of World Championships Silver and Bronze Medals in Singles early on in his career.
