June 23, 2014

Burlington, Ontario, Canada — The world’s best racquetball players converged outside Toronto last week for the 2014 International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) World Racquetball Championships and when the medals were awarded, players from HEAD Penn swept the podium. Just a few weeks ago Rocky Carson and Paola Longoria started swinging the new HEAD Graphene Radical 160 racquet, and today both players are World Champions yet again! Longoria won her second Women’s Singles World Championship for her native country of Mexico while Carson won his fourth Men’s Singles World Championship for the United States. In the Women’s Doubles competition, Longoria also captured the Gold Medal, her third consecutive at the World Championships. For her career, Paola now holds five Gold Medals in both Singles and Doubles. She also holds two Bronze Medals in Singles play. Longoria recently completed her third season on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) with an undefeated record.

Rocky’s medal is his ninth from play at the IRF World Championships. His win in Men’s Singles this past week in Canada is his fourth consecutive World Championship. Carson has also earned a pair of Silver and Bronze Medals from his early on in his career at the World Championships. He finished the year on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) in the No. 2 ranking spot. In the Men’s Doubles bracket, HEAD Penn’s Alejandro Herrera used the power from the HEAD Graphene Radical 170 to propel him to a Gold Medal for his country of Columbia. Argentina’s Maria Jose Vargas reached the semifinals of the Women’s Singles division before falling to Longoria. Vargas finished the recent LPRT season ranked No. 3 in the world, while Herrera cracked the Top 25 on the IRT’s World Rankings.
