October 22, 2014

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tavistock Development Co. (TDC), a diversified real estate firm that specializes in planning, design, finance, construction and development, is pleased to announce the arrival of Taj Adhav, director of business development for sports innovation and performance at Lake Nona, and Melanie Sylvan, who will serve as director of marketing and communications for both TDC and Lake Nona.

With nearly 20 years of international business development and management consulting experience, Taj Adhav will oversee the development of Lake Nona’s burgeoning sports innovation and performance cluster featuring the United States Tennis Association’s 63-acre New Home of American Tennis. Throughout his career, Adhav has served in various executive roles from mid-sized companies to large corporations in both for-profit and non-profit business environments, spanning Asia, Europe/European Union (EU), and the United States. Most recently, he was CEO for global consulting company, Sixth Fuel, LLC, where his expertise was concentrated on emerging opportunities in technology and sustainability for his clients.

Longtime marketing strategist and recent New York City export, Melanie Sylvan joins TDC as director of marketing and communications. She will manage integrated marketing efforts, branding and strategy for the company’s development as well as the 7,000-acre Lake Nona region. Sylvan most recently served as an account director with Siegel + Gale, a strategic branding and consulting firm, where she managed branding identity for the global American Express enterprise. Prior to her position with Siegel + Gale, Sylvan worked as a professional theater producer in New York City for nearly a decade and also worked with preeminent brand consulting firm Landor Associates.

Brittani Harrell also joins TDC and Lake Nona as Marketing Coordinator. Harrell was previously with Walt Disney World, where she served in a variety of roles over the last five years including catering, convention services and events coordination. In her role as marketing coordinator, Harrell will provide marketing support to Sylvan and the entire Lake Nona and TDC teams. Harrell’s event experience will no doubt play an important role on the team helping to coordinate some of Lake Nona’s seminal events, including the community’s 5k RunNona and the Lake Nona Institute’s Impact Forum.
