Marghoob joins PTR Sport Science Committee

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) is pleased to announce an addition to its advisory staff. World renowned dermatologist, Dr. Ashfaq A. Marghoob joins Drs. Mark Kovacs, Jeff Chandler, Ben Kibler and Jim Loehr, and nutritionist Page Love Bombac, on the organization’s Sport Science Committee.

The Director of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s regional skin cancer clinic in Hauppauge, Long Island, New York, Dr. Marghoob is a board certified dermatologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the skin. He sees patients at the Sloane Kettering outpatient facility in Manhattan.

Active in clinical research, Dr. Marghoob has published numerous papers on topics related to skin cancer with an emphasis on melanoma, atypical/dysplastic nevi, and congenital melanocytic nevi. His research focuses on the use of imaging instruments such as photography, dermoscopy, and confocal laser microscopy to recognize skin cancer early in its development. He frequently lectures on these topics both nationally and internationally.

“Although providing the best care possible for my patients remains my primary goal,” said Dr. Marghoob, “I also remain committed to education. My hope is that educating physicians and the public about the importance of early skin cancer detection will help save lives.”

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 15,000 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
