PTR names Private Facility of the Year

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last week during the 2015 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, a trade show and tournament, is being held until February 22, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The Weymouth Club, in Weymouth, Massachusetts has been named PTR Private Facility of the Year.

One of the largest and most well rounded tennis facilities in the Greater Boston Area, Weymouth Club serves more than 9,000 members. Club Industry ranked the Weymouth Club one of the Top 100 Health Clubs in the United States.

An upscale, family friendly health, fitness, wellness and recreation club, Weymouth is dedicated to the continuous improvement of its members’ experience. Steve and Sally Goldman bought the Weymouth Club in 1988, and turned the 60,000 square foot tennis only club into the current 200,000 square foot multipurpose recreational facility. The Goldmans continue to reinvest into the facility and the club continues to grow.

Weymouth hosts various PTR Certification Workshops throughout the year, as well as the New England High School Coach’s Conference.

Serving in the past as a Regional Training Center for the USTA, Weymouth Club has produced champions from national to the professional level. In addition to its academy for high level juniors, the club runs a progressive youth program with permanent 10 and Under lines on all 12 courts, a comprehensive adult program, 35 competitive adult teams, and is a home site for area colleges.

Weymouth Club hosts numerous USTA tournaments, runs three town programs, and houses ACEing Autism, which provides autistic children the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game. Wheelchair tennis has also been a part of the club’s rich history, as has running tennis programs for local school districts.

The Weymouth Club has a dedicated and highly experienced staff. The entire tennis teaching staff is certified and 11 hold a PTR Professional rating, making it a PTR Proud Facility.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 15,000 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
