Second season of Tour Guide premieres

February 5, 2015

LOS ANGELES — Tennis Channel is set to unveil the second season of tournament-travel show Tour Guide, with the first episode launching Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1:30 p.m. ET. The premiere will directly follow the network’s live coverage of the first round of Fed Cup this weekend.

This season Tour Guide will take viewers around the world as host Danielle Dotzenrod explores exotic, international locals like Shanghai; Istria, Croatia; and Monterrey, Mexico; as well as the great American city of Cincinnati. Tour Guide pairs each city it visits with a local tournament on the men’s or women’s professional tennis tours. Every 30-minute episode, tennis fans learn how to re-create an ultimate tennis vacation of their own with tips and tricks on local attractions and a behind-the-scenes look at what the pros love most about the tournaments. In addition to revealing each week’s destination as show host and traveler, Dotzenrod hits and does activities with featured tennis players at each city, while asking about their favorite moments and things about the local tennis cultures.

“It feels good to be back on the road with Tennis Channel,” said Dotzenrod. “Tennis is such a global sport; it naturally lends itself to travel. With Tour Guide, it’s amazing to have the opportunity to visit these beautiful, historic places, showing audiences the ins and outs of these cities and tournaments around the world.”

For the premiere episode, Tour Guide travels to the beautiful peninsula region of Istria, Croatia. Beyond its ancient cities and gorgeous coastlines, the area is also known for the Vegeta Croatia Open Umag, the oldest and most renowned tennis tournament in Croatia. Dotzenrod embarks on a number of adventures surrounding the event, and works on perfecting her serve with US Open winner Marin Cilic’s coach former Wimbledon champion and heavy hitter Goran Ivanisevic. She also visits the historic town of Pula, which dates back 3,000 years. In between day attractions and hitting with one of the game’s greats, Dotzenrod interviews Cilic about his favorite things about the tournament and goes jet skiing with fellow Croatian and tennis pro Jiri Vesely.
