Sock, Mannarino, and Karlovic onto quarters

Fourth seed Jack Sock is into his second straight quarterfinal in Newport, after defeating Lukas Lacko on Wednesday in a tight match, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-4. On Friday, Sock will face Czech Jan Hernych, who also came through a tight match today, prevailing 7-6(5), 6-7(6), 7-6(7) against Colombian Alejandro Falla.
Picking up a match that was suspended due to darkness last night, Adrian Mannarino defeated wild card Tommy Haas 6-7(5), 7-6(1), 6-4. Mannarino went on to his second round match then, defeating compatriot Edouard Roger-Vasselin to earn a quarterfinal spot.
Second seed Ivo Karlovic defeated Malek Jaziri 6-4, 7-6(4). Karlovic is the highest remaining seed in the singles draw. He hit 29 aces and saved all three break points faced.
Local favorite Jared Donaldson fell to John-Patrick Smith of Australia, 6-3, 6-1, in the first match on Center Court.
Tomorrow’s matches will begin at 11 am with doubles quarterfinal between Nick Monroe and Mate Pavic versus Johan Brunstrom and Marcelo Demoliner. Second on court will be the continuation of a second round match between Sam Querrey and Dustin Brown that was suspended due to rain today.
