Tennis Channel now on Amazon Fire TV

September 1, 2015

LOS ANGELES – As the 2015 US Open gets underway in New York City, Tennis Channel is now available to Amazon FireTV customers who subscribe to the network via their cable, satellite or telco providers. Beginning today, Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and Fire tablets offer TV Everywhere access to Tennis Channel’s linear feed, as well as Tennis Channel Plus, the network’s premium digital subscription service available to anyone in the United States.

“Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets is helping us bring Tennis Channel’s unsurpassed tennis programming to customers through a variety of platforms, and continues our mission to give as much tennis to people as possible, on as many devices as possible,” said Patrick Wilson, senior vice president of distribution, Tennis Channel. “When you combine Tennis Channel’s linear feed with the live coverage and archived matches carried on Tennis Channel Plus, Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablet users have the ultimate tennis viewing experience, whether at home or on the go.”

“We’re thrilled to offer Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Plus to Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and Fire tablet customers,” said Steve Rabuchin, vice president, Amazon Appstore. “Now our customers can have a front row seat for all the action at many of the biggest tournaments of the year – even those without a cable subscription.”

Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick plug into your HDTV for easy and instant access to blockbuster movies and popular TV shows, live TV, sports, music, photos, games and more. Amazon Fire TV has voice search built right into the remote, and a quad core processor for seamless streaming; Fire TV Stick is a small streaming media stick that brings an incredible amount of power and content. More information can be found at www.amazon.com/FireTV. Fire HD tablets feature a quad-core processor, front and rear-facing cameras, an HD display, incredible reliability and a world-class ecosystem of exclusive features, services and content – learn more about Fire tablets at amazon.com/firehd.

During the US Open, Tennis Channel subscribers can use Amazon Fire TV to access the network’s two-week coverage of the sport’s largest competition, including three-hour morning show Tennis Channel Live at the US Open and eight-hour evening encore program US Open Tonight. Tennis Channel Plus adds to the US Open programming slate with archived matches of some of the tournament’s biggest names, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. In the case of Williams, who would achieve a rare “Calendar Slam” by winning her fourth major singles championship of 2015 in the fourth and final major of the year, Tennis Channel Plus is giving viewers on-demand access to relive her semifinal and championship triumphs at this year’s Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon competitions.

With Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets, Tennis Channel marks a continuation of its digital growth in recent years. After launching free network app Tennis Channel Everywhere in spring 2013, the channel introduced TV Everywhere functionality later that summer. In 2014 Tennis Channel Plus premiered, making the network the first to pair a digital subscription service and TV Everywhere linear feed on the same app, a model now used by other television programmers as well.

During the US Open, Hall of Famers Martina Navratilova, Jim Courier and Lindsay Davenport; former major mixed-doubles champion Justin Gimelstob; announcers Mary Carillo, Bill Macatee and Brett Haber; and Sports Illustrated reporter Jon Wertheim are on the ground in New York for Tennis Channel as the network provides 250-plus hours in its seventh year of coverage.
