New USPTA award jewelry to debut
May 7, 2017
Minnesota jeweler and tennis instructor, Brian Walters, has designed two jewelry pieces for the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) that will make their debut at the 2017 USPTA National Clay Court Championships, May 18-21, at the Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy in Naples, Florida.
The men’s and women’s Open Final winners will receive the first two pieces created, along with their other prizes at the upcoming USPTA clay court tournament.
“The USPTA logo is beautiful all on its own, but in actual size for jewelry, we wanted the tennis ball emblem to really stand out and make the pieces instantly recognizable as a tennis award,” said Walters.
The “Super Bowl” size men’s ring will be crafted in Sterling Silver with a solid 18K yellow gold tennis ball affixed to the ring. The ladies pendant design is also solid Sterling Silver with the same attached 18K yellow gold tennis ball accent, also with Sterling neck-chain.
“Tennis professionals work so hard and are so dedicated, that I wanted to show my support for my fellow instructors.” Walters added: “I have been to the Sanchez-Casal academy and it too is a first class facility to hold the tournament as well.”
Brian has already had a request to provided the new awards for the hard-court event in Texas, U.S.A., and Brian has offered to donate another ring and pendant set for the November 2017 tournament.
As of right now, these pieces can only be won at USPTA tournaments, but Walters feels that many industry professionals will want to own and wear them with pride on the job every day, so he already has some slightly smaller and affordable versions on his drawing board if/when he receives requests for them.
These award pieces should “up the ante” and provide further incentive for entering and winning future USPTA events!
