July 11, 2018

NEWPORT, RI (July 11, 2018) – Universal Tennis (UTR) and the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) have developed a partnership to enhance and grow tennis for a new generation of players.

The ITHF, one the tennis world’s most storied landmarks and venues, is adopting UTR Powered by Oracle as its official player rating system. The Hall of Fame will leverage UTR’s suite of community tools and technology, including its tournament and event management system, to organize and run competitive, level-based tennis events, and to complement the ITHF’s variety of tennis offerings, which include a world-class museum and extensive collection of tennis history, a year-round tennis club, and an ATP World Tour tournament.

“We are excited to leverage UTR Powered by Oracle’s suite of tools and technology to enhance the playing experience and tournament experience at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Additionally, we look forward to partnering with UTR’s community of tech-savvy, passionate tennis fans. This new partnership lends itself well to developing creative opportunities with UTR to engage a new generation of tennis fans in tennis history in creative and inspiring ways. It’s really exciting to see this type of technology being embraced in our sport, and the International Tennis Hall of Fame is proud to partner in its growth,” said Todd Martin, International Tennis Hall of Fame CEO and Tournament Director of the upcoming Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open, an ATP World Tour event.

The new UTR and the ITHF partnership will kick off during the upcoming Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open, with activations including player ratings on site for fans and behind-the-scenes social media content. The tournament will be held July 15 – 22 and will draw top ATP World Tour players, including defending champion John Isner, German star Mischa Zverev, and rising stars Mackie McDonald and Alex de Minaur to compete on the historic grass courts of the ITHF.

“The International Tennis Hall of Fame is an important partner in the global tennis community, which does tremendous work to preserve the history of tennis while also helping the game advance into the future,” said Mark Leschly, Universal Tennis Chairman & CEO. “We are excited to team up with the ITHF to provide more opportunities for fulfilling, level-based tennis and drive further engagement among players, professionals and fans.”

The International Tennis Hall of Fame is located in Newport, R.I. on the site where the first U.S. National Lawn Tennis Championships – today’s US Open – was held from 1881 – 1914. Today, it is a National Historic Landmark, and home to the world’s most comprehensive museum dedicated to the history of tennis, and it is the site of the annual presentation of tennis’ highest honor – induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Tennis Club offers 13 grass courts, an indoor tennis facility, and a robust year-round calendar of tennis programs for adults and juniors of all levels on the seven-acre property. The ITHF is a non-profit organization committed to partnering with the global tennis industry while preserving and promoting tennis’ great history and celebrating its champions.
