January 28, 2019
This November, Madrid will become the global capital of tennis as it hosts the revamped Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, which for the first time will gather 18 countries in the same city, aiming to win the Davis Cup trophy and be crowned World Champions. Louis Vuitton has been commissioned to design the Trophy Travel Case to display the prestigious Davis Cup trophy over the next four years.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos are honoured by this partnership which elevates the legend of such a valuable and unique trophy in the world of sports. Louis Vuitton’s association with this prestigious event, existing since 1900, shows its trust in the new era of the competition that aims to bring the tournament to the very top of the sport.
In line with Louis Vuitton’s history of creating bespoke travel cases for the world’s most iconic trophies such as the FIFA World CupTM, Rugby’s Webb Ellis Cup or the America’s Cup, the Davis Cup Trophy Travel Case will be handcrafted by skilled artisans in the historical Louis Vuitton workshop in Asnières, France.
The best 18 countries will make up the final line-up, which will compete from the 18th to the 24th of November in “La Caja Mágica”. The competition will have a group stage taking place from Monday to Thursday in qualifying rounds of 3 matches (2 singles and 1 double)-of best of three sets.
The draw for the final line-up will take place in February in Madrid.
