ITA Announces Partnership Extension with PlaySight
February 4, 2021
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association and PlaySight are pleased to announce an extension of their partnership, whereby PlaySight will be recognized as an Official Live Streaming Partner of the ITA.
The relationship between the two organizations dates back to 2015, and since then PlaySight has established itself as a leader within college tennis, advancing the sport through its suite of technology services, from on-court training and analytics to PlayFair line call challenges and automated production live streaming.
Close to 100 college tennis programs across all divisions have PlaySight installed on their campuses, with teams using the live streaming technology to provide a viewing platform for parents, fans, and alumni, as well as leveraging the system’s analytics and performance video capabilities for player development and coaching.
“Since the early days of our work with PlaySight, I have been impressed by the company’s commitment to excellence, constant improvement, and collaborating with high integrity,” ITA Chief Executive Officer Timothy Russell shared. “Together the two organizations have worked to create a more forward-looking landscape for our sport in a world that is ever-more driven by innovation and technology.”
Using the video review functionality that is also part of the company’s product offerings, the ITA and PlaySight have partnered to bring a line calling challenge system to college tennis. The “PlayFair” rules were implemented in the ITA Official Rulebook in 2019 and have been used in dual match play since then. Due to COVID implications, PlayFair will be paused in spring 2021 match play.
With the increasing need and desire for college tennis programs to engage fans and the community, PlaySight is continually evaluating how it can serve college tennis. Recently, the PlaySight GO product was introduced as a portable live streaming and video solution that can be moved from court to court. Similar to its other products, the GO can be integrated with existing live scoring and scoreboard solutions such as Daktronics.
Eight of the fourteen ITA Kickoff Weekend events were live-streamed using PlaySight, and the ITA DI Men’s and Women’s Team Indoor Championships will be streamed on the PlaySight Sports Network as well. Tennis fans around the world can watch at no cost with a PlaySight account at www.playsight.com/live.
“The ITA and college tennis have served as the bedrock for our company and all innovations in our technology. We are proud to extend our long-term partnership with them,” said PlaySight’s Yuval Bar Yosef, who has led the ITA partnership from PlaySight’s side since 2015. “From PlayFair to score integration to multi-court streaming, so many of our recent developments, products and services have been developed from the needs of college tennis. We are still focused on our mission to bring PlaySight to every college tennis court across the country, and the ITA continues to be the perfect partner to help us do that.”
