ITA Center for Coach Education Launches New Rising Coaches Program

April 30, 2024

Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) is pleased to announce the launch of a new ITA Center for Coach Education program titled Rising Coaches.

The Rising Coaches program is aimed at assisting current or recently graduated, student-athletes who are interested in a career in college tennis coaching through an intensive two-week online program. Upon completion, the participants will gain an understanding of the expectations and desired abilities of a college tennis assistant coach and the competencies necessary for a career in college tennis coaching. They will also take a deep dive into their leadership traits and values, and learn the best practices in getting hired in college athletics.

With the first session slated to take place from June 7th to June 23rd, the Rising Coaches program will be looking for applicants who exhausted their eligibility by Spring 2024 or prior, or are in their last year of eligibility in the 2024-25 school year. Eligible applicants should have not worked previously as a college tennis coach.

The Rising Coaches program will cost, upon acceptance, $60 for any student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility in the 2022-23 or 2023-24 school years or will exhaust eligibility by Spring 2025. All other applicants will be charged $100 upon acceptance into the program.

If you are a current student-athlete, NCAA Bylaws allow for NCAA DI (Bylaw 16.3.1.1), NCAA DII (Bylaw 16.3.1.1), and NCAA DIII (Bylaw 16.11.1.15) institutions to pay for a student-athlete’s actual and necessary expenses to participate in the ITA’s “Rising Coaches” programs.

Applications for this first ITA Rising Coaches session will open a week from today on Thursday, May 2nd. If you are interested in learning more about this program or if you have any questions, please contact the ITA Director of Coach Education, Lauren Conching ([email protected]).
