The return to Emilia Romagna sees the Championships remain in Italy, its home since 2013.
The ITF Beach Tennis World Championships stand as the pinnacle of the competition within the Beach Tennis community, attracting top talent from across the globe. With 1000 ranking points at stake for the winning teams, this tournament holds significant weight in determining the world rankings each year.
Aside from the prestigious men’s and women’s doubles categories, the Championships offer opportunities for players of all levels to showcase their skills. Among these categories are the under 18 boys’ and girls’ events, as well as the men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles events, catering to the diverse interests of beach tennis athletes worldwide.
In last year’s 2023 Championships, Rafaella Miiller (BRA) clinched her third World Championship title, partnering with Patricia Diaz (VEN), who secured her first victory. The duo displayed exceptional skill throughout the tournament, without dropping a single set.
In the men’s division, Nicolas Gianotti (FRA) and Mattia Spoto (ITA) emerged victorious, claiming their first World Championship title. Their triumph came after a runner-up finish in 2022, with Spoto finally breaking the barrier after also coming runner up in 2021. The dynamic duo sealed an impressive victory by defeating five-time World Champion, Michele Cappelletti and two-time World Champion, Antomi Ramos, in straight sets.
Tournament Director Paolo Caponigri said, “The return of the ITF Beach Tennis World Championships to Cesenatico brings immense joy, commemorating the origins of this beloved sport. Italy, the birthplace of beach tennis, holds a rich history that we are honoured to revisit. The ITF’s partnership with the FITP resonates deeply, and returning to Emilia-Romagna, a beacon of beach tennis excellence, fills us with excitement. Alongside the FITP and Emilia-Romagna, we extend a warm welcome to athletes from across the globe.”‘
