Draws Announced for 2025 Davis Cup World Groups I and II Playoffs

October 7, 2024

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced the draws for the 2025 Davis Cup World Group I and World Group II Play-offs.

The draws, which took place at the ITF offices this afternoon, will see 52 nations competing in 26 home-and-away ties, to be played in cities around the world on either 31 January-1 February or 1-2 February 2025. The choice of dates is determined by the home nation.

Today’s draw follows Friday’s announcement of changes to the format of both the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup from 2025 onwards, which will see the two competitions’ structures align further. Both the men’s and women’s World Cup of Tennis will feature an eight-team Finals from next season.

The revised Davis Cup structure for the 2025 season has required some nations to play at a higher level than would have been the case in the previous format. Two nations who lost World Group II ties in September (and would have competed in the 2025 World Group II Play-offs) will compete in the World Group I Play-offs. Four nations who did not win promotion from regional Group III events (and would have not played again until the 2025 Group III events) will now contest the World Group II Play-offs next year.

Winning nations from the 2025 World Group I Play-offs will compete in World Group I ties in September alongside the losing nations from the 2025 Qualifiers first round. Losing nations from the 2025 World Group I Play-offs and winning nations from the 2025 World Group II Play-offs will compete in World Group II ties in September. Losing nations from the 2025 World Group II Play-offs will compete in regional Group III events later in the year.
